(Ipod repair) Indie Rock In The New Millennium
No commentsBy Roberto Garabell
Do you know what Indie rock means? The term Indie rock comes from independent rock music, which is somewhat on the lines of rock music that evolved in the United Kingdom and the United States of American, in early 1980s. Indie rock artists normally tend to have control over their music and career, and prefer to release their albums on independent record albums. Many artists also prefer to tour in order to promote their music, and spread their word through word-of-mouth publicity, and playing their songs on independent radio stations. With the advent of the internet, these indie rock artists also prefer to spread their music through internet web sites, fanzines and fan forums.
Amazingly, there is no specific genre of indie rock, many music sub-genres like garage rock, twee pop, indie pop, dream pop, noise pop, noise rock and indietronica have similar beats and music patterns and that often creates a great amount of confusion on what exactly is indie rock. One of the pioneer bands of indie rock is The Velvet’s Underground, who really made a lasting impact on the minds of the young generation then. Most of the indie rock artists are not globally popular, as they aim towards producing better music for the people, rather than becoming rich and being in the limelight.
At the turn of the millennium, indie rock artists preferred to make the most out of internet, as it became the fastest and cheapest way to reach their audience globally. Many music softwares available freely on internet became their tools to discover new music, as they are not bound to one kind of music style or patterns. With this new age of internet, many independent rock bands that were desperate for a break emerged from all parts of the world. Digital service royalties became a prime source of their increasing income. Indie rock artists explored the advantages of digital services and began producing more soundtracks and music to make it available online for their fans and to earn more income.
Additionally, indie rock artists who were of new age thinking, squeezed out the best out of what the World Wide Web had to offered and they started exploring new technologies like music blogs, social networks and message boards that were related to indie rock music. Many artists who were successful, came up with their private web sites to reach their audience and to provide them with the best music they can play.

Goth And The Internet
By Roberto Garabell
If you are online looking for the word Goth you might be misguided to some other web sites that might provide you more information about East Germanic tribal people and their history. However, here we are referring to the gothic rock subculture that emerged in the 1970s that changed the genre of rock music. The gothic rock bands were very different from punk rock bands as they had their own style which emphasized on horror and depression.
Gothic bands like Bauhaus, Banshees and Siouxsie were few among the pioneer bands that led the gothic rock culture. The use of sorrowful and epic sounds added with guitars and synthesizers were the strong points of gothic rock. However, it was only in the twentieth century that goth got more popularity through the medium of internet.
With the advent of internet, gothic rock got began to spread across many parts of the world. Many web sites were developed to spread goth music and goth subculture. Online radio stations and internet radio’s popularity grew and more and more people started loving gothic rock as it was very close to dark romance which was preferred by the young crowd.
Many goth bands that were looking for good amount of publicity used internet as their medium of propaganda as more and more people were hooked online.
Movies that were heavily influenced by the goth subculture were being played and sold online. Since goth subculture also has its influence on clothing and jewellery, many web sites were developed that sold gothic jewellery, gothic clothing and accessories and gothic footware. Gothic giftware was widely publicized through internet. For those who were single and looking out for gothic partners, goth dating sites were being developed so that they can find the right partners who would be equally inclined towards the goth music. Many discussion sites and forums also came up where gothic music fans were able to communicate with each other and promote gothic music.
Internet was also used as a medium to communicate the ideologies of goth subculture which emphasized more on feelings of horror, supernatural and mystery. Many internet web sites related to gothic music claim that goth subculture does not associated with violence, but they rather preach tolerance. Inspite of many web sites that claim that gothic music is not socially rebellious, many controversies have been in news that strongly criticized goth subculture.

Goth In Movies And TV
By Roberto Garabell
If you are searching for the meaning of the word Goth, I am sure you might learn that they were a group of East Germanic tribes and that they moved gradually from one land to the other and all that historical information. However, we are not here to talk about them, we are talking about Goth that evolved in the late 1970s and made an attempt to define their own subculture and music and to spread it out to people across the world.
So, you want to know a little about how it began? Well, basically there was no gothic rock until 1980s, but still few bands called themselves gothic in the late 1970s. The gothic rock scene followed their own bands and had a distinctive style of music which was very different from the punk and rock bands then. Gothic bands like Bauhaus, Banshees and Siouxsie normally try to create sorrowful and epic sounds along with guitar and synthesizer that were of the main sounds of post-punk movements. Batcave club became one of the most popular venues for goth bands and goth fans all over the world.
In the 20th century, when goth music was slowly spreading across many parts of the world, gothic rock entered the mainstream with movies and TV programs being made based on gothic subculture.
Hollywood soon came out with the new world of dark and romantic stories that became box-office hits. However, it was Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow in the year 1999 that gave an impetus to stories that were full of darkness and sorrow, very much alike gothic music.
The influences of dark romance taken from gothic scene can also been seen in movies like Edward Scissorhands and Batman. Gothic music and goth scene started becoming more popular as more and more horror films and television programs were being produced and distributed across the United States of America and other parts of the world. Television series like The Addams Family and The Munsters were camp comedies that were influenced by the goth scene.
Many goth fans claim that Bauhaus first single Bela Lugosis Dead was the starting point of the goth subculture which was later revolutionize by gothic styles and fashion that evolved. With the change of time more movies and TV programs were heavily influenced by goth scene and the connection between goth and horror became a clich.
